Learn, Investigate, and Bring It to School

A resource is most useful when it leads to a question, an investigation, and a teaching decision. Explore beginner tutorials, technical references, videos, and professional learning, then adapt one idea for your students.

1 · Watch or read

Start with one concept. Record the question you want to answer and identify unfamiliar terms.

2 · Try and explain

Run a permitted example, inspect a dataset, or sketch a signal path. Use evidence to explain what happened.

3 · Adapt and assess

Write a student task, decide what evidence would show learning, and plan one revision after teaching.

The video connects to YouTube when loaded. You can also read the teaching guide and view the video on TeachEngineering.

Turn a Research Activity into a School Investigation

Example question: How does a change in a command affect measured motion?

Use an approved simulation, a prepared dataset, or a suitable classroom device. Students predict a change, compare two trials, label a plot, and support a conclusion with evidence.

Adjust the mathematics, vocabulary, time, and equipment to the class. Students can reason about sensors and feedback before studying advanced control theory.

Choose Resources for Your Context

Provider resources vary in level, software requirements, availability, and access terms. Begin with introductory material; select the exact platform and software version for technical work. Follow laboratory supervision and manufacturer instructions before operating hardware.

The 2026 MathWorks Outreach License supported participating educators. Future-cycle access arrangements will be confirmed by the RAOP team. External learning resources are not a guarantee of a software license or equipment access.
